Lungs & Breathing
Shortness of breath, cough, chest discomfort, and lung inflammation.
UNDERSTANDING THE FIGHT
INVISIBLE. COMPLEX. REAL.
Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease that can affect different parts of the body. For many people, it impacts the lungs and lymph nodes, but it may also affect the skin, eyes, heart, nervous system, joints, or other organs.
This page is for general awareness and education only. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment guidance. Anyone experiencing symptoms should speak with a qualified healthcare professional.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE BODY
Sarcoidosis happens when inflammation causes small clusters of immune cells, called granulomas, to form in the body. These granulomas can appear in different organs and may interfere with how those organs work.
Because sarcoidosis can affect people differently, no two experiences are the same.

THE INVISIBLE PART
Many symptoms of sarcoidosis are invisible. Fatigue, pain, shortness of breath, anxiety, and uncertainty can affect a person’s daily life even when others cannot see what is happening.
COMMON SYMPTOMS
Common symptoms can include: fatigue, shortness of breath, persistent cough, chest discomfort, swollen lymph nodes, joint pain, skin changes, eye irritation or vision changes, fever or night sweats, unexplained weight changes, and general pain or weakness.
Symptoms vary from person to person. This list is for general awareness only and should not be used to self-diagnose.
DIAGNOSIS AND CARE
Doctors may use medical history, physical exams, imaging, blood tests, lung function tests, biopsies, or specialist evaluations to better understand what is happening.
Treatment depends on the person, the organs involved, and the severity of the disease. Some cases may be monitored over time, while others may require medication or ongoing specialist care.
